Have You Degaussed Your Barrels?

Here's interesting news from Germany. Vallon GmbH, maker of industrial de-magnetizing equipment, has revealed that two Wisconsin-based barrel makers have acquired large degaussing machines. These German-made assembly-line degaussers can process up to 50 rifle barrels at one time.

Krieger has successfully used cryogenics to improve barrel steel. Degaussing may be the next big advancement in barrel making.

Here is the Vallon GmBh degausser:

Degaussing — the process of de-magnetizing metal objects. Degaussing is now used in many industries to uniform metallic products and to prevent unwanted interactions with magnetic fields.

Actually, I believe a magnetic field helps accuracy. I arrange small rare earth magnets in 2 spiral rows (one clockwise, one counterclockwise) along the length of the barrel and typically get an extra 80 fps. This theory is based on the particle accelerator experiments at CERN in Switzerland.

had one done but I think they overdid it, cant get the action screwed on, cant even get it close, the thing repels anything metallic now >:(

LHSmith, Nice try. ;)

Ya....I was going to say something this morning...in regaurds to what day it is. I figured I'd wait and see if it picked up any traction during the day. I'll admit, the fourm boss put a lot of work into it!! Had me going ..till I read LHSmith's post. ;D ;D ;D

Takes me back to the "liquid propellant" scam of 2008!!

Degaussed barrels work best with magnetic core bullets and bolts set to opposite poles for acceleration. I heard someone is developing a new bore lube that will allow the gun to be fired without powder using only the primer to release the bullet from the crimp and still achieve full velocity. Rumor has it that Hodgdon has secretly purchased the patent and destroyed all records of it.

One thing I have learned about this forum over the years, be suspicious of new or unconventional things you read about here on April Fools Day.

YOU'RE KIDDING ME SNAKE!!! Do you mean the Forum Boss would intentionally post things here he KNOWS are not true? AND to top it off he won't remove his own topic!! For Shame!!

Need to wear my bi-focals at the computer. I thought they were saying "deloused". Started scratching you know where until I put my glasses on and reread. 8) Vic

But just like CERN the bullets will do a 360*...Not what I'm looking for.
