Have a 6.5mm grendel reamer and gauges, now what?

So I was lucky enough to score a reamer and go nogo gauges, now the question is what to do with them. Do I wait a little longer until I can truly afford to build the custom rifle of my dreams, or should I just break down and have a barrel made up to build another Savage off of? What would you do? And is there anyplace to look for for a good cheap used PPC action? Thanks.

I bought a used BR rifle, Panda PPC action and had a Grendel barrel installed. Rifle was $1600 and rebarrel was $500. Have been getting great results.

What type of rifle are you looking for? A short range BR rig, 100-200 yards, or an intermediate rig 300-600 yards?

Look over at www.benchrest.com in the classified section, or The Shooters Corner @ www.benchrest.com/shooterscorner/

Send me an IM if you want any pics or specs, happy to share any info I've got. I do have well over 10k rounds down range with various Grendels also, so I can help with loads if you are interested.

What now? If I had an investment in a Grendel reamer & headspace guages right now, I'd quickly chamber my own personnel wants & then double my money on the investment by renting them out. Seems to be some pent up demand out there. But it won't last long. Despite AA attempts to classify a simple rifle reamer as something top-secret, it is after all just a simple rifle reamer. They won't be hard to get in a year. M9

It depends a great deal on what kind of rig you are looking to build. One option I've looked at is a Sako L461. There are still a few that can be had relatively inexpensively compared to a custom action. I've spoken to a gentleman who has opened up the bolt face on the more common 223 family actions and installed one size larger extractor. He says it works like a dream and is supposed to send some detailed pictures w/a few critical measurements. If he does, I'll be happy to share.

They are not hard to get now, MidwayUSA carries them, due back in stock 2/27 according to their site:

Not exactly sure which chamber this one is based on, there are 4 different ones that I know about...

And no chamber or ctg drawing that I'm aware of for any of them available. Doesn't that seem odd? M9
