Has anyone found the life span of peterson brass

Im curious to know if anyone has put enough rounds down range on peterson brass yet to draw a conclusion of the life span of the brass...

to compared to lapua brass...

I still havent heard number of firings and comparisons to lapua brass yet..

I am curious if anyone has fireformed Peterson brass to an Ackley improved case. I have some 260Rem brass I wouldn't mind trying. The brass looks to be good quality.

There shouldn't be an issue forming AI brass, it's nice stuff.

Got mine too late last season to begin anything so important as a new batch of 284INCH cases.

Stay tuned... though it could be May by the time I have anything to add.

Just started shooting my .308 SMRP Brass and love it. Shot awesome at 1K last weekend with no brass prep. Just loaded and shot!

Im lucky enough to live 20 min from the Peterson facility, and recently had the opportunity to tour their production line. They walked me through every step of the process, from taking raw cups to the final heat treatment. I got to witness every stage through all 8 drawl steps. And i can tell you with certainty that their brass is by far the best available. Some of their steps are proprietary, and I will not go into the details, but their process for eliminating variations in neck wall taper is genius.

We have been getting well over 20 firings on 243 brass. They are getting ready to release 6BR brass within the next 2-3 weeks. And I discussed with them the possibility of having 6PPC brass made. Ill let Peterson divulge more info on that topic.

After going there, I won't be buying Lapua brass again.

Thanks for sharing info.

Years back Precision Shooting did a brass longevity test with three or four brands of American made brass, Norma and Lapua brass. By the tenth load cycle all of the American made brass was unfit for use, case head separations along with neck and body splits. By the time the 25th load cycle had come around, the Norma brass was no longer usable either. By the 50th re-loading the test was called off, except for work hardening the Lapua brass was still usable. The author of the article said he felt the Lapua brass could have been annealed and used for more loading.

I recently bought 50, 6.5 Creed of each from Graff and Sons, SRP and LRP. The SRP brass was very good. 9 out of 50 of the LRP would not fit in one of my shell holders. I found another shell holder that they would fit in.

I called them ( Ben Preston ) and he said they would be interested in looking at the ones that would not fit, and would call me back.

That was a week ago today and I haven't heard from them.

They advertise that the brass is consistent, I would have thought that they might want to look at what they shipped.

I haven't had the opportunity to shoot any of it yet.

I had a large amount of Winchester .45 ACP brass that had a huge flash hole. The flash hole was so large there was barely enough of a ledge in the bottom of the primer pocket to seat the primers on. I called Winchester to see if they would replace the faulty brass, the rep I spoke with said it wasn't their problem, and I should contact the vendor I bought it from. I said they only sold it, your company made it that way. He repeated, isn't wasn't their problem, and I should contact the vendor. I told him if they wouldn't make it right, I'd never buy anything with the Winchester name on it again, he said well sorry if that's the way you feel and hung up on me.

The reason lapua makes 220 russian brass instead of 6ppc brass is the liability. We shoot extreme pressures in the ppc and you cant get that type pressure in a 220 russian so id suspect peterson would do the same. Theres been a few companies that made ppc brass and it didnt work out so well for them. Im betting if peterson made 220russian brass as good as their other brass it would be a big seller and they would quickly have a shortage of the other offeringsthey currently have. I know if i had a brass company i wouldnt dare make brass labeled 6ppc knowing what we do with it.

I bought some Creedmoor SP brass from Peterson this fall. I was impressed with the way the whole order went and when it arrived it was packed in 50 round plastic ammo boxes and a foam insert to protect the mouth of the case. It was some of the best weight sorted brass I’ve ever bought, from any manufacturer.

To answer your question I’m on my 7th fireing. I started with 20 cases just to see what would happen. Not enough to help answer your question though. Primer pockets are still tight with a very stout load.

I hope they expand and keep their quality where it is now. Personally I think when more people give them a try their only problem will be how to keep up.

Bought a case of Speer 45ACP several years ago, loaded with their then-180 grain HP often referred to as ‘flying saucer’.

That stuff’s been discontinued for some time. Too bad too, shot great in all my 45’s.

About 85% of the brass had a LARGE flash hole like what you describe seeing in your WIN brass.

Segregated, then reloaded exactly the same, I couldn’t tell a whit of difference in performance. Still shooting much of it today after many reloadings.

Just to be clear i called the folks at Pererson brass not Graff and Sons. Ben Preston's name was the one listed on the sheet with the brass. Assume he is owner?
