Has anyone evaluated this borescope?

It is set up for calibers from .20 to .30 and from an email from the maker, the focusing distance is under an inch and uses a 360 degree view.

At about $300 it is tempting...

First, LET ME SAY: I'M NOT CLAIMING THIS IS LIKE THE SUBJECT BORE-SCOPE!

I bought a similar bore scope for about $260. It was a flexible light pipe that was not actually fiber optics as claimed, but a bundle of very small diameter plastic rods. The "pixel" size, if you will, was not small enough to see detail in a rifle barrel. It was actually designed to look inside things like automotive engine cylinders or inside things like pipes and castings.For those applications, it was fine. I sent it back and received a full refund. They didn't claim it was good for inspecting rifle bores, I just took a gamble.

Just be critical of the clarity and make sure you can return it if it isn't suitable.

I haven't used one of these, but my understanding of them is that they view straight out the front of the scope and not at an angle. You can only see forward of the tip and not at an angle toward the Lands/Grooves.

That is correct. It does not allow looking at the lands and grooves from a 90* angle, however it does show a pretty wide field of view. Also the brightness is adjustable and so is the contrast. For determining how clean you are getting the bore I think this thing works pretty nice. I can understand where maybe a barrel maker or gunsmith would want something that would examine at a 90* angle. However Mr. Willis told me if I wasn't satisfied with it to send it back and he wold refund my money. And that sure beats the screw job I just got from a defective Goodyear tire.

Are you able to get a crisp view picture or is it slightly blurred?

I guess I don't really know how to answer that. I can certainly tell if there is any copper or fouling etc. in the bore. I could also see pretty clearly how bad the erosion was in a .22 cal. barrel with over 11000 rounds through it. It looked like an on ramp to the highway. A rough one at that. But I could not see the fire cracking that should have been there. I can see how sharp the lands start on my PPC. With all that being said it is in now way close to the pictures in the Hawkeye adds in the magazines. However I was able to tell that on some bores I didn't have them as clean as I thought they were. And further cleaning with some JB compound seemed to make less copper wash visible-(I think it was copper wash). I can say this it is far better than the $100 one I bought from an automotive supply house. That one you could see absolutely nothing. I was hoping it would be like the pics in Hawkeye's adds but it is not. However, you can't beat Larry's offer.

I bought one of the $35 bore scopes everyone was talking about a year ago from Ebay. Came from Hong Kong. It actually works great once you get the hang of it. You use your computer for viewing and you can store videos and stills on your computer to send to others etc. But it is 7mm head so anything smaller it won't fit.

I see now on Ebay there are tons of them with 90 degree mirrors etc. All for under $50.

Can the video be outputted to a computer for storage or to send images / videos?
No. I wanted this borescope to be simple to operate, functional, affordable and easy to support.

Is there a focus adjustment?
The focus is set at the pre-set distance that can be seen by this camera. There is a slight “fine tuning” by positioning the tip of the borescope.

Does it contain its own light source?
Yes. This borescope is way brighter than it needs to be. In fact, the best images are on the lowest bright settings.

Is there a money back offer if not satisfied?
If you are not 100% satisfied . . . . just send it back for a full refund.

For $19, I would try it but don't think it would fit down a 6mm barrel.

Post got a little off subject but the scope asked about will look inside 20 to 30 caliber barrels plenty small enough.
