Has anybody sent there Cooper back for a re-barrel?

My Cooper 22-250 repeater has seen a few too many prairie dog towns. Friends at the gun shop say it could go back to Cooper for a $125 re-barrel. Has anybody done this?

I have had a couple done by them and it was $125, but that was about 5 years ago. If I remember correctly in order to get the rebarrel done for $125 you had to be the original owner, otherwise it was $450. Either price is a bargain IMO.

For that money I'd sure give them a go! Can you get the twist you want for that price or just the standard one?

Changing twist or even caliber is something I’m looking into. Sent Cooper an email this morning.

I would use the $125 for a reamer that I would be to my spec, and clambering. Rather than taking their 90’s era caliber specs.. and waiting 6 months for a turn around time..
This is my opinion on the Cooper subject, having dealt with them from the past..

Thanks for the reply's. Your options are what I am looking for. I guess you either love them or hate Coopers. This gun gave me a lot of enjoyable days in the field. It's the only Cooper I own. But you are correct, my own reamer and die's cut from it make a lot of sense. But if nothing else I only have $1300 into this gun six years ago and I could sell it with a $125 re-barrel for about what I have into it. The model 54's are over $2000 now and mine still looks new.

That could be, but from what I have heard, they (Cooper) are solid 1/2 MOA shooters. I admit...I have poo-pooed a few guns because of the name on the receiver or BBL. I also have had my ass handed to me in comp by them...so..there's that!! LOL
