Hart?

Thinking seriously about sending a 700 action to Hart for a complete rebarreling service. Would I be better off with another gunsmith? What is the reputation of their services,I know barrels are good), I couldn't help but think services would be good.

Also, their 6br reamers are .266 & .270. Is .270 large enough for no turn Lapua, or would I need to "knocked down" the high spots?

I was planning to do that orginally simply because it was cheep and simple. but I ended up going with a pac-nor for the same deal. they where cheeper than hart by a little bit and the turnaround was only a few weeks.

There are machinists at all of the top barrel makers that can do a good job chambering a barrel... problem is... you don't know who is going to do the work.... will it be the new guy, the guy that's been there 3 months or the guy that's got 20 more barrels to get out today?

I've never had good luck letting the mfg. fit a barrel. Plenty of people have had no problems..

I find better work and piece of mind by sending the blank to a well respected smith and let him take his time and do it right.

That's what the BR guys do... and it's for that very reason.

I don't believe Hart Barrels in NY provides chambering services, but Hart,Inc, Nescopeck, PA is a full service gunsmith shop, and direct distributor of Hart Barrels.

Both companies offer full rebarreling services. Both companies do excellent work.

Another good barrel company is Benchmark Barrels of Arlington, WA. They take the barrels from steel bars to match grade hand lapped barrels. A barrel costs about $450 for a completed barrel fit on you rifle.
