Harris bipod mounting ?

New to a bipod, I just put a Harris on my tactical rifle becouse it's heavy and I don't want to constantly carry my rest like if shooting at a friend's place.... I normally shoot off a rest with rear bag and I only compete with myself or friends..

Now my question, there are two sling studs one of course at the end of the stock and one a few inches behind it. Does it matter which one I mount the bipod to? The rear stud seems more stable but I notice everyone mounts to the front stud.. I do not use a sling it gets carried in a hard case everywhere till I am ready to setup..

Thanks in advance for you replies...

I'm not sure there is a correct stud to mount the bipod on . I have my harris bipods mounted on the front stud . both of these rifles are in McMillan A5 stocks , so the stocks are solid .
