Harrell's Powder measure

I recently purchased a Harrell's Premium Powder measure. I have been using it for ball powder in 221, 222, so far and am impressed with how smooth and consistent it is with ball type powder.

I have a auto trickler/ FX 120 scale for the big kernel powders and use it to check weights.

I just have to get used to the "Clicks" and not always landing on a even number.

It seems the click values are designed around the powder density used in short range benchrest. When using N133 one click is very close to 0.1 grain.

As far as noting the powder measure setting I jot down something like "52 3/6",

Exactly what I did yesterday, Example: 39.3 clicks = 19.56 Grain

How consistent is it with stick powders? Varget or H4350? I have only ran the ball powder

I keep thinking about it. I have been going back and forth, get it, no ... My current Charge Master is doing fine, but takes time.

N133 is a small stick powder and it does fine. With the larger stick powders it's harder to throw to within 0.1 grain. But then, for example, with H1000, each little stick of that powder is almost 1/2 of 0.1 grain.

Ive had imr 4831 stop up a harrells where nothing came out. Chargemaster works fine. Ball or small stick you cant beat a Harrells for speed . I dont worry about a .1 though. Doug

As with any other powder measure, the finer the powder, the more uniform the throw will be. With good technique and a fine powder (like TAC), it is pretty easy to stay within .030. Get into the big stick powders, that can go to .1 or greater. Regardless, the results are pretty good with the Harrell's compared to many other hoppers, though an electronic hopper like the Chargemaster does work well due to the "trickle up" function
