HARRELLS POWDER MEASURE......TUNE UP or SERVICING ??????

I bought a used Harrells powder measure used in the spring of 2010. When I recieved it it didn't have any product information with it, just the powder measure with a couple of bottles. When you buy a new one does it come with owners/ user manual ? The one that I bought from an estate sale is well used. Should it be dis-assembled and cleaned ? Thanks, Richard Ramsey

Give Harrell a call http://www.harrellsprec.com/ they will send you something.

ramey,,,if it is well used then it is well broke in,,,,what makes you think you gotta take it apart to get all the little [parts mixed up????it sounds like you have just looked at it,,,....dump some powder with it and learn how to use it,,,if the handle goes up n down and it throws good charges and resets from one st pt to another ,,,,what more culd u ask,,,Roger

After 17 years, I took mine apart and cleaned it thoroughly, Nev-R-Dull on all the brass and polished with a soft cotton rag...good as new!

If it works don't worry about it. One thing, don't clean the "patina" out of the inside of the powder bottles, it helps keep static charge down, and that improves the consistency of thrown charges. This is not a guess, I have tested it, quite a bit. In fact, if I could trade every relatively clean bottle that I own for old dark ones, I would. Taking the measure apart is no big deal, but if it turns OK, I see little reason to do so.

Richard, new powder measures come with a sheet that basically tells you how to use the measure.
The numbers are for reference ONLY and do not correspond to any weight value (if they do, it's by coincidence).
If you want, you can call me at Harrell's and I will answer any questions you might have pertaining to the powder measure.

BTW, how's that Contender shooting? You still like that brake I installed on it?

Might post a picture or two of it here.

Talk to you later,
