hard chambering brass

am a rookie at this but have a ?. fired 60 factory rounds in a new 25-06 brux barrel for my fireformed brass cases. this brass, untouched, now closes easily after firing.havent done anything to them. measure out at 2.484,2.485. i then took 6 cases, once fired only in my OTHER 25-06,FL sized them, knocked out primers, trimed them to .001,.002 shorter than brux fireformed cases. tried to close bolt on these 6 in the brux chamber.the best were somewhat difficult to chamber,a couple were quite hard to chamber.can someone tell me what i am missing here. thank you very much. can be reached at email rrhogueiii@aol.com

a number of possibilities,
different headspace
older one has bigger chamber - diamenter and or shoulder to bolt length
,take a fired case from it and measure vs a fired case from new one

OK you still need to bump the shoulder a little more.with the die in place at your already setting you will need to screw the die in a little more at a time till the brass is able to be chambered.the best way of doing this is with a chamber gauge.but if you do not have one do this.my reason is that I think the other chamber is longer than the new chamber.{ over sized a little ]

1.take the FL die and run it in till it touches the shell holder.then run it back up a 1/2 turn.
2.now lube up a case and run it in the die.now if you can remove the fireing pin from the bolt this will help you out to feel the case being chambered.and try to chamber the case.[remove the lube]
3.if the case does not chamber turn the die in say 1/16th to 1/8th of a turn more and size it again.you can do this about 3 times before you will need to use a fresh fire formed case.
4.keep doing this till the case will chamber with out any trouble at all.and when the case is at this point lock the die down and you are good to go.

5.last if you can and have a lockable locking nut for the die use it and lock it to the die.this will keep it from moveing and keep the die ready for next time.

but if I may add something to this.if I were you I would just in the habbit of useing two batches of brass for the two rifels.this will help you out in the long run of things.even keep them separate by useing two different kinds of brass will help out.trust me haveing two rifels with the same chambering is alot of fun when you are trying to use the same brass for both.thats why I use Lapua in my target 223 and remmy in my hunt'n 223.

Different chambers cut with different reamers. Brass may or may not be interchangable. It only takes about .002" larger at the case head to make the brass a "no-go".

If the bolt is hard to move forward, the case is to big in diameter. It the bolt is hard to lock down, the case in the chamber has to long of a headspace, bump the shoulder back a bit.
Mike.

It's not the length you have to worry about, it's the other measurements. Two chambers done by different people and different reamers won't be the same. Especially if one is factory and one is custom. Actually I'd be surprised if brass did interchange. Start measuring. If you don't have what I call a "window gauge", some ingenuity with tubing and you'll figure out a way to measure headspace.....in effect, the measurement from casehead to neck/shoulder junction. When brass won't chamber easily and it's not a headspace problem, then it'll be the shoulder or web diameter that's too big. That's an easy one. Also look for scrape marks on the case where it's too tight.

hi,thanks for all the great info, suggestions and ideas.will check all ideas out for the learning curve. rest assured, the fire formed cases are the only ones that will see the brux chamber. i have a superb load used for years w/speer 100gr BT's.anxious to try them soon, anyone else have a pet load? again, many thanks
