Happy .222 day at the range

I spent a good part of the day at my not very local range with my .222 rem.
Took the 3 hour drive to the Manatee shooting club Myakka Florida where I am a
member.
My shooting buddy was trying out new loads with his mega blaster 338 on the 300
so I took my .222 to have some good practice. (Read that as 'FUN')
Started out to bring the bullet impacts to the dead center of the steel
silhouettes at 300. Then moved to hitting the 4 corners of the silhouettes. (they're
maybe 12 X 12) multiple times to get a single black spot at each corner. Got bored with that and commenced to blast away at the shards of clay pigeons scattered about on the berm behind the steel targets. If I could see a shard in the 24x scope, I could hit it.
Never did make it to the 600, but had a great day just burnin powder, clanging steel and busting
little tiny pieces of orange pigeons.
As far as Manatee goes, I miss my friends, Jack & Angie, but still a great range with good people
running it.

Sounds like you had some fun. I love the 222, such a fun lil round!

Sounds like a great day, .222 makes it easy to enjoy your time shooting. 10 degrees and windy here, can only dream of a warm day in FL at the range.

Before moving I shot a regular monthly 200 yd fun match - 3 strings of 20 shots - with an older Remington 700 in .222.. Shot a 600 more than once with a best of 45x if conditions were relatively calm. What's not to love about that?

What load were you using?
fatelvis;
The rifle just loves the 55 grain Berger FB target bullets with 23.3 gr of VV N133 loaded out to .008" from the lands
with a Fed GMM Sm rifle primer in Lapua brass. No pressure signs at all, just nice tiny groups.
This is over the Sierra max but just below the VV max. Speed is 3210 fps average with 19 SD.
Rifles barrel is a 1:12, 24" McGowan.
