Hangin a big ole pipe from a panda

I was randomly looking at old threads on here and have a question.

Still gathering parts, but I have a Panda action that I plan on using for a build with a 1.25 straight barrel at either 22 or 24 inches long. The plan was to have it glued and screwed, but I saw someone mention on another forum that Kelbly does not recommend glueing that heavy of a barrel? I contacted Kelbly, and am waiting for a response, but was wondering if anyone here had some input.

I thought that was odd since they have an f-class panda that I've seen people using with 30in straight barrels on. Perhaps that comment was just for the gluing portion and not the gluing AND screwing.

Thanks fellas

I think Kelbly means to not just rely on a glue in, like most Short Range Benchrest Rifles with regular LV or HV barrel profiles.

I would think they would be just fine with a “screwed and glued” assembly.

Lots of pandas out there winning gold medals that have 32 inch straight barrels on them. Screws of course. On a hot day in the sun the glue might let go

@jackieschmidt That seems to make more sense than what I read. I think you're correct!

@Alex Wheeler all things being equal, do you think you're able to squeeze a little more accuracy out of a glued and screwed rifle, as opposed to just bedded and screwed down?
