handloading set up

I am going to start handloading this summer. What do you think are the best reloading presses? A gunsmith friend says that he likes the Lee presses. Just wanted your opinion. I won't be reloading for volume. I will be reloading for acuracy. When you post the stuff that you use to handload please post what you payed for it and what it is used for and how well you like it. Thankyou.

and if you use one... i was wondering how you figure how far you seat your bullets? if you have like a little gadget or something. just a question that came up from reading on handloading. how do you know how and where you seat it.

I have a 3 bar scale that I used for Phisics last year. Payed $160 for it. So I won't need a scale.

Tyler,

Some big questions with a lot of varying answers depending on who you talk to.
My advice is "Read, Read, Read! Lots of good books out there by Sinclair, Zediker, etc. which you can purchase in the Sinclair catalog.
There are a lot of depends here.
#1 How much do you want to spend?
#2 Do you want to load at the range, or just at home?
#3 How involved do you plan on getting?,neck turning etc)

Having said all that here's what I use personally.
Press: RCBS Rock Chucker
Scales: RCBS 1010, DI MXX-123 electronic
Priming tool: K&M hand tool, RCBS bench mounted
Powder Measure: Harrells Preminum BR
Dies: Mostly Redding Competition Dies
Gadgets, Gadgets, and more Gadgets, too numerous to mention, twenty-five years worth of trial and error.

Prices: You got to shop around, and shop shipping too.

Get a Sinclair catalog and begin to drool.

Hope this helps.

If just starting precision loading buy a kit. I would suggest the RBCS Partner Press kit along with an RBCS video. The press is seen all over the BR circut. I like everything RCBS makes. If you continue into custom dies your press can handle the job. Rock Chucker press is nice but not necessary for precision loading. I have 3 Rock Chucker pressses but I use them all for bullet making. I would also suggest a Sierra & Hornady reloading manual. Takes time but better than dreaming about reloading.
