Hal Drake Has Left the Range

Hal passed away on March 22nd. Hal was a very serious competitor, he probably did more to prove the use of a tuner than anyone. He will be missed.
OMG Hal was such a super guy. Gonna miss him what a shame. Last time I saw him was at Roy Hunter's house when Roy had a pig roast. Your right Wayne. The tuner that Sid use to sell was Hal's design.

Sorry to hear that. Hal was a class act, a thinker and a hard competitor.

A good friend of mine locally was interested in getting into BR shooting with a 30BR. Hal had a really good HVFS Bat 3 lug 30BR for sale....the orange gun that he did so much winning with. I talked with Hal about it and he sent the complete rig, including the NF 12-42 scope to me for my pal to try out. No money...nothing. Just shoot it and see if he liked it. I made brass for it and supplied some of my 117's, powder, etc. The first 5 shot group I fired from it was a .150-ish. Needless to say, my pal bought it immediately. The gun is still here locally.

You were one of the good ones, Hal.

Hal Drake cost me money!!
I said I’d get a tuner when someone who never beat me before got a tuner and beat me. Well, Hal Drake beat me at the IBS Score National at Wadworth, Ohio. He finished first and I was second. So, Monday morning, “Hello Gene Beggs, I need some tuners”.
A common refrain here will be that Hal was a great guy, and he was. He was supportive with his advice and information to one and all.

At the 2013 IBS Score Nationals at Weikert Union County, my buddy was shooting next to him and having trouble reading conditions. Hal had the conditions figured out early on, and told my buddy what to look out for and sure enough he was right. RIP Hal.
