H4831 vs H4831SC

All,
I have developed loads for 3 calibers with H4831SC, but availability being what it is nowdays, was wondering if anyone has some comparison on how H4831 (not SC) performs as a replacement. I can get H4831, but H4831SC is nowhere to be found.....

I know Hodgon says the only difference is shorter kernals to aid in metering, but I'm weighing charges, so that's not a factor for me. Most of my loads are "almost compressed" with the H4831SC (I get slight crunch at bottom of seating stroke) - was wondering whether the difference in bulk density with straight H48331 would make much of a difference.

Any insights appreciated.

Just started playing with it a little. I'm low on H4831 and had some H4831SC. I substituted the SC at the same charge weight and picked up close to 80 fps on the chrono. Accuracy was very close to the same. This was not a compressed load, probably around 92% fill. I have not fine tuned things yet, but do like the increased velocity with the same powder weight charge. You may or may not experience the muzzle velocity change that I did.

I have and use both 4831 and 4831sc. When set up for 60 gr 4831, my powder dispenser will consistently throw 61.3 gr 4831 sc for about the same velocity difference with a 180 vld as "timeout" posted.

Depending the case and the load if you switch to 'regular" H4831, you may not be able to get enough in the case to equal your old load. The SC is more volume dense.
