H4831 IN THE 6.5 CREEDMOOR ???

Anyone have any information on using the h4831 in the creedmoor?

i know berger list in only the are using IMR 4831...the burn rate shows

the imr to be faster than the H 4831 by a couple other powders...is there

anyway i can use the h4831 if i reduce the load by like one grain and

then work up like .3 gr at a time to check pressure? thanks john in pa

The reason for no response has to be that everyone is using H4350 for the 6.5 Creedmoor. More specifically, 40.9 grains with 140 grain Berger hybrids set .020 off the lands. Your results may vary. Have fun.

+1 on the H4350 with around 40 grains with 140Berger Hybrids.

H4831 will be a compressed load in the Creedmoore case and is more suited for the 6.5-284Win or magnum cases.

H4350 is THE 6.5 CM powder. It and any match grade 140 gr bullet will not disappoint.

Having tried N160 in the Creedmoor for the heck of it, I'll say that you can try the H4831, but I do not think you will find it rewarding. I do not think it is unsafe really, but I consider it like using H4350 in a 308. Under certain specific conditions it might work well, but unless you have a very specialized rifle bullet combo, why try to reinvent that wheel. H4350 will just about fill a 6.5Creedmoor case up and that ain't a bad thing.

I've always been one of those who needs to tweak and try different powders, primers, bullets in my rifles, but I'm finally beginning to learn a good load only needs to be tuned to an aging barrel. Heck, it's gotten to the point where I start to mourn the passing of a barrel right after it gets broken in and I haven't even started on my 6×47 Lapua yet........

Indeed, H4350 and either of the VLD's with the 6.5 Creedmoor and there you go.

well, i treied the h4831 with the hornady 123 A MAX.....I have to say i was

very surprised at the accuracy..shooting only 300 yards. after 3 fowling

shots i had 5 in about 1 1/4 inch....let the barrel cool back down and fired

one fowling shot..shot 5 more with an increase of .4 grain and got another

like group,only a little high...So i think this is going to be another load for

me along with teloader 17...i have not really had this type of accuracy with

H4350..but it may be due to the fact i was using magnum primers with it...

just wanted to report my findings to you...in my rifle the 123 gr bullet really

works well,plus i have so many of them on hand......john in pa

reloader 17 is alot better than h4350...or imr4350 for that matter.....

what primer are you using? only cal. i have tried is the 6.5 creedmoor......but i did find out

it was not that good with the magnum primers...i also found that neck tention makes a difference..
