H4350 is a very flexible powder. Think about this, you can use it in everything from the 6 Dasher thru .300WSM and almost everything in between! So the competitive shooters can use it in a wide array of cartridges not to mention all the hunters who use it in their rifles! With such a wide ranging use, it's no wonder there is a shortage!

True!!

In 2012 i set three IBS 1000 yd heavy gun Match Agg records. 10 matches 10 shots averaging 5.2 in. groups in temperatures from 32* to 105* with H4350 same load for all 10 matches. H4350 is very stable.
The same will never he said of H414!

What about accuracy? I cant get any out of it.
Do you still use it if its not the most accurate powder?
Ived tried it with every primer bullet ect load and found other powders more accurate

There was a one score record 10 match agg. 93.7 points in 2012. and more. I have to say it again. In 2016 I set two HG IBS 1000 yd. records Smallest group 2,871 in. 10 shots and a score record of 100 with that group, with H4350. 2012 records was with a 300 WSM, 2016 records was with a 6.5/47 Lapua. I am trying to share what I have learned not bragging about it. I like H4350......

Hows it my gun when lots of other powders shoot accurate. I never said it wasnt a good powder just wondering why the obsession over it when its so hard to get. I figure im missing something my gun shoot everything but h4350 good.
It strikes me that if a powder is accurate in many quality guns, then one is barking up the wrong tree to blame the powder for not achieving accuracy in your own gun.

Myself, I would't ..... To me, it would be telling me that barrel doesn't like it, and would move on with what ever powder is yielding best accuracy potential in that barrel. Same for bullets and primers.

I was shooting it in several cartridges at one time. I'm down to about 9#'s now and saving it for the 6.5 Creedmoor.

I've switched to IMR 4451 in the 6 Lapuas, Varget in the 6.5 Lapuas, H1000 in the 6.5-284 and a few others I can't recall at the moment.

It's a SOLID powder but I can't see being dependent on it right now because of the availability. Every time anyone gets a shipment it's gone in a flash and I've got more to do than sit by the computer waiting for some to show up.

As much as I like H4350, I have guns it will not work in. Some barrels / cartridges will not like it or the bullet you are shooting. There is no one do all powder, Every barrel and case is different......

Probably not. The rifle barrel will tell you everything you need to know, so long as you are putting together decent ready to shoot ammo. Simply, some barrels like certain powders and hate others. And the mixture of the powder/bullet load down the tube has to fall within the tuning node of that barrel. That's the challenge!

Good luck in search of the RIGHT load.

There is little doubt or argument that Hogdon's H4350 is a GREAT powder. I have always said, "Barrels are like women, when you crawl into bed with them, THEY will tell you what they want! You can't make them like something they do not"!! There are other powders in that burn rate range and most are worthy of a good try! If your barrel does not have an affinity for H4350, try one of the others!
