H4350 for 7SAUM-140-168 grains

Title pretty much says it all, looking for opinions or experience in the 7mmSAUM using H4350 with 140-168 grain bullets. Have used mostly H4831SC and tried H1000 with no luck.

I havent used H4350 in 7 SAUM with 140-168gn bullets but have used it extensively with 180-183gn bullets where it is my go to powder for F class shooting. With lighter bullets than I am using I would expect H4831sc and H1000 would be too slow for optimum results. With 180-183gn bullets I usually ran around 56.0gns.
In my 7 SAUMs, H4350 gave better ES/SD, less powder fouling and better accuracy than the other slower powders

I shoot 162 eldm and have not used lighter bullets. 59.6 gr H1000, S/B primer, 30 inch 8.5 tw. 2960 fps.
H4350 might work great but never tried it!

What Rod is saying is mirrored by many of Australia's top F-open shooters. Either H4350 or RL23 (although that is not available for a couple of reasons now). I don't know of anyone shooting lighter bullets in a SAUM, it's a bit of a waste when it can comfortably throw a 180gr bullet at 2950fps downrange with exceptional accuracy.

My first gen m700 sendero shoots the Berger 150 classic hunter very well, with either h4831sc or rl22. This will be my elk load for this fall.

It would be a big help if you tell us your use for the load information.

I might consider that weight range to be for a hunting load whereas others, as posted, only consider F-Class bullet weights and loads. There is a difference since many in the US have chosen the 7mm SAUM for a hunting cartridge.

Two of my hunting loads 168 gr. use MRP while my F-class load (190 gr) uses MRP or VVN-560, neither of which have to shipped from Australia. ;)

I have used H4350 with 143gr Hammer Hunters with good results but it is in a 17” XP-100 pistol. I get a little over 2900 FPS and 3/4” groups at 250 yds. I just got a box of the 155gr Absolute Hammers to try. They are getting better speeds with the 155 then the 143.

140 grain copper for hunting application out of a 25” bartlein 1:9.
H4831SC worked ok for 168 grain lead bullets not as good with the 140 solids, no luck with the H1000 in the 168s.

Can you share with us what charge the 168’s liked?

The OP hasn't been back since his last post Sept, 26, 2020 so it's doubtful he'll return to answer your query. It's sad how some just fade away or forget that they started a thread which other find interesting.

Specific charges for cartridge/bullet combinations can vary significantly due to the most common variables found when reloading. Your best bet is to locate some substantiated data and start a reloading program for your cartridge/bullet.

I use the Nosler images because they are simple to transfer to posts and usually give a decent range of powders and bullets:

As I’m running out of H-1000 and RE 25, have any of you guys used 4350 in a 7 saum for the 190-195 class heavies? I have 4350 and 4831 for a while still and prefer the heavy 7’s.

Understood, I have just fireformed 100 cases for a SAUM barrel with a 180 Hybrid in front of 54gn of 4350, shot very nicely. However I have 11 boxes of 168VLD’s that I want to get a tune one, don’t want to waste a trip to the range verifying information somebody already has. I find barrels usually shoot well a couple of grains below the practical maximum, which is often a very different number to the book maximum.
Thanks

My 7 SAUM prefers 59.4 gr. IMR 7828 SSC under Sierra 168 Match Kings. They run right at 2850 fps and groups are almost always one hole at 150 yds.
