H322 in a .243

I just received my rifle from Cooper. I don't have much time to work up loads for a prairie dog trip in a couple of weeks. The test target included showed that they used H322 and a 70 gr. Blitz king. I do have some of both and thought that going that route would be better then a "shot in the dark".

I called and asked about this because H322 is a bit fast for the 243 IMO. They said "yes" 33.8 grains is what we used.

Does anyone have experience with H322 in a 243?

In the 243, H322 is a poor choice for prairie dogs. That load may be accurate but it's real slow. Winchester 760 has always worked very well for me, accuracy and speed, in the 243 with 60-70gr bullets.

it will work...Iv used 322 and 133 with lil bullets successfully in .243's ,,,the charge wt. you spoke of is aprox 2gr light!! for 68gr bullets ...dont load a bunch of em |(hundreds!!) untill you know where the top end is...take your resized ctgs to the range and dump increasingly heavier charges till y;ou find max,,,then step back 1/2 gr or so,,you will be close..allow for temp diff, if your hunting in 100* weather!!!,,I just touc;h the lands f/or hunting loads and use lots of neck tension so you dont pull a bullet if you open the action wa;y;yy out on the prarrie..Roger
