H322 and X-terminator

Well just wasted 1.5 pounds of powder. Mixed H322 and X-Terminator. Or in todays terms $60 down the drain.

Although they are #74 and #75 on the powder burn chart and one is extruded with the other ball i dont know that much about the two.

Oh well.

Would it be possible to filter them out since there different powders... Ball vs extruded.... Seems like it would be worth a try....

That what my wife said. I pulled a pair of nylons out but not sure if it will work. So i put the lid on ot and walked away. I am more pissed due to.the shortage and cost then any thing.

Thanks for the ideas... i will let you know how i do. I wish the stuff wasn't worth more then gold, but i dont know when i.will get a chance to buy more. Then the next question will be how much will they charge for it.

It is not worth the risk of trying to save it. Your safety and well being are worth more than that amount of powder. Fertilize your lawn or some plants.

Looks like you made an effective separation.

In hind sight. Be glad it wasn't 8 pounds you couldn't separate due to particle size similarity.

Reflect on what you did to allow them to become mixed and learn from it.

Many many years ago my practices were much looser than they are today. I would leave powder in hoppers on loading equipment without identification. On my shot shell press I only used Green Dot and Win 571. Easy to tell apart, but still not the best practice. Over time the plastic became discolored and etched. So I had to replace several of the hoppers.

Today I only have 1 powder container on my loading bench at a time. If I don't finish at the end of my loading session for the day, I empty the powder back into the manufacturers canister. Even if I am going to load the same powder the next day. Not much more work, and it keeps me pure with my powder handling method. And I didn't adopt that practice because of CRS, I did it as a discipline to reduce the chance of making a mistake. Could be loading the wrong powder, mixing powders, etc.

Looks like all the Xterminator is out of the H322.

Looks like the few rods of H322 still left in the Xterminator can be readily picked out.

Yes. It worked better then i thought. I was planning on loading the H322 after the X-Term. I too have a rather strict way of loading, but this time i was loading for a hunt the next day and let my guard down.

I have seperated the powder to where i am comfortable, but will start my load process again working my way up to my max charge.

Thanks for all the advice and help.

Happy shooting
