H1000 with the Berger 185's ?

Currently using H4895, very consistent , single digit SD's. At my load , the powder is just at the case/shoulder junction. Has anyone tried the H1000 with the 185's? I can get 45gr. of it into the Lapua Palma brass and it is at the top of the neck/shoulder junction which would be very close to a 100% case fill. Would like to know if anyone has tried this powder with this bullet and what were the results? Very satisfied with current powder/load etc. but looking at a slower powder burn rate.

Well you are looking at a powder that is W-A-Y too slow for a .308Win.. If you wanted a slower powder and still shoot the 185's, try VV N550>>>>That would be on the edge of too slow but I believe it would work.. Having said that, if you are satisfied with the H4895 load, why would you want to change? That powder is right in the correct burn rate range!

you might try IMR 4064 which is just slightly slower and has performed well in 308's. 4350 is slower and might give you what you are looking for, it is much faster than H1000. You may try the large primer with the slow powders to compare to your current load.

My load for the Berger 185 vld's is either CCI 210 or Wolf primers in a Winchester case using IMR-4064. Shot out of a Gilkes/Ross with Krieger 1/12 30" This load has set several national records in FT-R midrange matches.
