I've tried it and it produces small groups, but one experienced 1000-yard shootist tells me it carbon fouls more than other powders.

Any experience with that?

hey ...It is the same old!! story....let "your" gun tell YOU what IT likes.....you will hear bad things about evry powder-primer-bullet-brass-action-trigger-scope-bbl.-gunsmith-shooter-competitor....we must all learn that just because it works or doesnt work for him/her Bill/Tony or even lil ole me...how does ur bbl. look...??? is it dirty??? how are the groups....maby we shuld take a look at H-1000....I must admit that there are trends that work-- or dont work...but that is what makes shooting so much fun..the tinkering and the acomplishment of finding the best load at the "B"ench...not at the keyboard....HINT HINT...just about any powder will carbon the bbl if you are running pressure toooo low....
One of the best powders I have ever used in my guns was not even though about a few yrs ago...I was even told to fall in line and use Varget....not me ....I now am shooting what works for me in my guns...even blending a few "secret" recipies....gotta test and tinker....I have even had folks tell me a lil white lie about what they were shootin,,,just to mess me up....I dont need any help "MESSIN UP"...been doin OK all on my own for several yrs. now.....Roger

Further on this load--after doing some seating-depth tests with my 2 best loads, one with H4821SC and one with H1000, I settled on the H1000 load. Today I tested that plus loads with 0.3 and 0.6 grains more powder. The highest-charge load won the smallest-group contest, so I've FINALLY settled on a load, that being composed of Norma unturned cases, 53.6g. H1000, CCI BR2 primers, and Sierra 142MKs.

Of the nine 5-shot, 100-yard groups I shot this morning, 6 were bugholes. I'm happy.

Good goin Jeffery..those groups are getttin rite where we want em......looks like they are ready for 600-1000yd testing....Im glad you increased the powder charge ...I bet it took some of the carbon residue out of the bbl....just like the tail pipe on your car ...the carbon tells the tale....just about anything burs cleaner when the pressure gets up where the gun starts shooting.....I always reccomend lots of neck tension...,,.003 smaller than loaded rd. for the sizer bushing)) and lots of jam....005-.010. which is enough to keep em touching all day as the match wears on....and lots of powdr!!!! ....Roger
