H1000 carbon rings

I'm burning H1000 in a 6.5-284 and it seems like a carbon ring really likes this barrel.
Anyone out there think that H1000 is a powder that creates a carbon ring faster than other
powders?

I wouldnt think h1000 would be a good match in your cartridge- not even in the top 5- that may be why its doing that. I had the same issue with retumbo in the 6.5x284 once when i was scrounging. I think h1000 would act similar

I run it in my 6mm Competition Match barrels. I found it to carbon up in them. I maintain the issue with a cleaning regiment. My magnums, from short mags to my .300 Lapua didn't carbon up like the 6CM (Competition Match ), the original 6CM.

I have used H1000 in my 6.5-284 and not had any carbon ring problems. That said, I typically only shoot 40-50 shots before a thorough cleaning. Several competitors who have much experience with the cartridge say copper fouling is a major factor in loss of accuracy n shorter but life. I nitride harden my bbls n this seems to have two benefits. Easier cleaning and longer throat life. H1000 is another reason ( slow burning) is a reason I hope for better bbl life.

Like Don, I use it in my 6CM.

But I clean with Kroil/Shooters Choice often, every couple hundred rounds.

Its a touch dirty, but not like Unique in 45 ACP so I can live with it.

Never saw a problem with H1000 in my 338 Norma. Admittedly, I didn't shoot it a ton. But it was a *very* accurate gun.

To me it seems it does it but at no accelerated speed than some other powders. I also shoot it in my .243 with 105 class bullets. I treat this barrel like my Competition Match barrels, the difference is the 6CM barrels are Krieger and my .243 is an X Caliber barrel. The .243 will foul sooner and the ring comes on faster. Soooooo I reckon the brand of barrels may have a little something to do with it.

Shorter neck.

I don’t know about a carbon ring but H-1000 sure does shoot good in my 1:8 twist 6.5-284 with 139 grain Scenars.
