Thanks. I have a m12 but it’s drilled and tapped and has scope but it does shoot well. Guess I should have mentioned that. But had a few guys tell me how well their 82g is but have never been around one.Have never had an 82G shoot any of our longrange matches. Still have some H&R 12s shooting including 2 we have with peep sights. The H&R stock is bulky but they really shoot well. I've heard getting tany parts for an 82G is like finding a moonrock in your fish tank.
The Redfield sights on the Model 12 is super good quality and easy to find inserts for. We shoot ours prone or off bipods/bags and you would need to be in good shape to shoot one offhand. My pick would be the H&R based on having owned and shot a few.

I have had two of each, while they both shot pretty good, IMO there are better options available. I have several Remington 540X's,( that are usually at the same price point), again IMO, are a little more accurate. Now if the only options available were the Kimber and the H&R, I would have to go with the Kimber. If not and $$$$ are not a big issue, a Remington 40X or a Winchester 52D would be my rifle of choice.Just wondering if anyone has both of those rifles or has shot both. Looking at one with peep sights to maybe buy for me and my son to shoot some in some small backyard matches. Just curios which is the best bang for the buck money wise. Thanks.
I’ve built on both of these actions.......the H&R is the better action, at least in my experience. It’s going to be difficult to wear out an H&R, the Kimber will wear, especially the cocking mechanism.Just wondering if anyone has both of those rifles or has shot both. I am leaning that way. Thanks for infoI’ve built on both of these actions.......the H&R is the better action, at least in my experience. It’s going to be difficult to wear out an H&R, the Kimber will wear, especially the cocking mechanism.
Didn’t Herb Smith win the 6 gun with a Bircher built model 12 H&R? Been awhile, but he sure did......Kimbers are fine, I’d go with the H&R though.....but that’s just one guys opinion.......
Isn't the IBS 50 yd RF target the one with a 1/2" 10 ring? If so, and I believe it is, that's really not very hard to clean with best-edge scoring. The high X count is more difficult but the shot only needs to touch the dot to score an X. Show me a high score on the USBR, IR50/50, or ARA UL targets that were shot with an 82G and I'll be more impressed. I know of two 82Gs that were capable and one had some work done on itI have seen 2 shooters with Kimbers and improved triggers shoot clean targets with hi X count on the IBS RF-BR 50 target. Long ago in Collage I shot indoor ROTC with the H&R. It was a club but I shot decent scores at 50 feet considering we were issued Winchester T22.
Yes, that has 1/2" 10 ring. when we shot that target, I used it to practice for ARA UL by trying to keep my shots inside the green ring without cutting it. when there was about 7 of us shooting UL at the club 750 were common and X count determined the winner.Isn't the IBS 50 yd RF target the one with a 1/2" 10 ring?
