So...If you were shooting a 6mm-284 with heavy bullets and couldn't find any H-1000 what powder would you use?

If I were shooting that cartridge with 105gr+ bullets, I would try that new powder RL-33.. I have read about it, talked with folks who have used it and I would be inclined to give it a run for it's money..

H4350 only!! Unless I have time to adjust my zero throughout the day... Rl19 and RL22 would be good... Retumbo will give you a compressed load before toping out with pressure ... Don't forget IMR4831 or even H4831,, the IMR will be faster though... Even try Hybrid100v working up above 48.5gr watching for pressure and 3,300fps...

This.

Local store has some RL 33. Guess I'll go get some in the morning. Thanks for the help guys. I'll keep all recommends written down.

RL-25 is just above/one step on the fast side of H-1000, and RL-26 is one step below/on the slow side.

I would try RL-26 first,
works extremely well in my 284 Win and 7mm Mag.

Don

Re#33 is way to slow for 6/284
I have read on another site where a guy was running R33 in one and was getting 150 FPS more with it and no pressure. He also said accuracy was great. I believe there was a thread on here recently by Lapua Tom about R33 and a guy answered that he was using it in a 6-284 with good results. Matt

It is actually on this page farther down and the thread is R33. It was in a 22-284. But I read another post about a guy using it in his 6-284 with good results. Matt

I think that the Re33 shines with long barrels. My 26-inch 7 mags love it. I don't think it would be as impressive with shorter barrels IMO.
