Proper etiquette is to make any offer via personal message. anytime I see an offer made on a public thread I instantly think it’s either a newbie who just doesn’t know any better or one “those” guys.

As far as the guys that make an offer that’s less 20%, 30% or even more on what is already a good price, I usually don’t respond, if I do it’s just one word. No.

Some forums come down hard on guys that want to haggle about a price in a thread. It's fine to ask specific questions about an item but start haggling or bad-mouthing an item or the seller and you are gone. Take it to a pm. That way the thread stays clean without a bunch of irrelevant comments.

There's some strange folks out there. Been so long ago that I forgot what I was selling but a guy asked me "what are you selling"?
Must have had more $$$ than brains or what $$$ he had was burning a hole in his pocket? Where are those Car or Insurance Salesmen when you need them?

On another forum I am active on I had an ad that was a month old that was buried down in the section. A member copied and pasted the ad and sent it to me in a PM and asked if it was still available. I said yes. So he copied and pasted the same stuff again but changed the price by $100 and said. " I will take the deal " assuming i wouldn't notice!

I might have actually taken the offer but not after that.

I see nothing wrong with offering a lower price for something you want. Especially if the asking price is more than it's worth.

However I get disgusted with those who make offers in the open. My feeling is if you want to dicker, do it by PM.

Something else that bothers me is the guy who responds with "I'll take it, pending your response to my question in the PM." You are saying I will buy it depending your meeting my demands.

I just bought something 165.oo. Based my decision on new vrs used. Saved about 50.oo.
2 days later same kind of item 100.oo cheaper than New.
No choice but take it on the chin.
I do wish i had haggled some.

I WILL be nice about the low ball offer but yeah on a pm I'll take my chances.
