Gunwerks Rev-X Action

Has anyone used these actions from Gunwerks. Curious if they are competitive with all the other mid price custom actions. I'm looking for a custom action that will be used for LR hunting / Target purpose (6.5 SAUM). I have been thinking about Borden actions but with tight tolerances might not be a great choice it dusty debris conditions, and been thinking Stiller predator or Gunwerks Rev-x might be a better choice.

Checked their website and don't see where the actions by themselves are sold, just rifles.
Aside from that, I like the Pierce and Stiller TACs for a hunting rifle.

That's not completely true. Stiller was sold but still making actions...Jerry and Curtis both still very much involved at this point. Jerry did retain the 22lr action though.

Nothing wrong with a Stiller action but there are several actions that would do well for what your attempting to build.

The action feels real nice on the gun.

I don't know about building a gun from it but I would think it's a pretty stable platform to build from.

Closing the bolt it feels along the lines of a cooper for smoothness and feel. If that makes sense.

The GLR action looks interesting. I really like the dual cocking cams, there are some features on this action that make it really stand out to me. If the tolerances are good it will be a great option. I have been meaning to order one.

There are a lot of issues with some custom actions out there. Just because they look nice does not mean they dont have some issues. I only recommend actions I have found to consistently be free of QC issues.

Why the weird recoil lug setup? I see more disadvantages than any perceived advantage. "extra machining expense"
May be a nice receiver. We will see after a few are out in the public's hand. It appears an integral lug would be nice.

Ya thats a weird one. The one I am interested in has an integral lug.

Don't be afraid of using a Borden action. I took a 300wsm on a Borden action on an elk hunt for a week. Between the horse back rides and the hikes it got dusted up pretty good and had no problems. Did not shoot it but cycles load round no problem everyday.

I also took a Borden 257 Roberts AI on an antelope hunt in eastern Colorado. 2nd day and 8 miles later shot and missed cycled fine. Later in the day belly crawled 150 yard in sand and sage brush function flawlessly and a hit. Cycled the bolt could feel some grit in but still worked perfectly

Concerns about Bordens tolerances are greatly exaggerated. I have 2 that work perfectly in the ND wind and dust...

Thank guys for the info. I think the Stiller Predator will fit my needs with my next build (6.5 SAUM). However, still not set on it. Borden actions are so nice!
