Lock bumping is a lock picking technique that has received increased publicity in the last couple of years particularly on the internet where "bump" keys can be purchased to quickly open locks, silently and often without leaving a trace. About 10 years ago bumping started to get more recognised as an increasing security threat but appears to have escalated most recently.
I raise this because I am in the process of purchasing a new gun safe. Enquiries of gun safe retailers indicate most locks are "pick resistant" and sometimes claim to be "anti bump" but there seems to be quite a qualtiy/security gap between "pick proof & bump proof" locks that are available commercially and the locks that are found on the most gun safes.
Does anyone have a safe with proven anti bump pick proof locks ? I would be interested to hear. Alternatively, i am considering ordering the locks an having these fitted to the new safe.
Thanks, Martin
