Gun Project Rookie...need help

So I'm new custom rifles as I've only shot remington 700's for hunting purposes,7mm rem mag, 300 rem ultra mag, .25-06). I would really like to build a custom gun for hunting and target shooting for under $2000,not including optics) that would have an effective range of anywhere from 800-1000 yards,if that's even possible). Any suggestions on where to start? Any info on actions, barrels, stocks, triggers, optics, and calibers would be greatly appreciated.

do you plan on hunting game animals at 1000yds with it, like deer?
If you already have a rem action that your gonna build on then thats a big step, have the action blue printed $150-$200, have a quality barrel $275-$325, installed $150-$200 and a good stock fitted to it and you'll be set the hardest thing is picking the caliber. Do you reload, what kind of restriction do you have like the gun can weigh only how may pounds, and t can only be how long? What kind of shooting matches are you planning to shoot?

I wasn't planning on using any of the remington actions I have now, but I may building on the 25-06. I was considering going with a .30 caliber rifle. As far as matches the most I would do is just club. I'm mainly shooting for the enjoyment of it, and yes...I would like to have the option of taking a deer at 1000 yards if possible. I do not currently reload but plan on it.

If your planning to reload for this gun then I would suggest a 6.5-284, it has a proven track record in 1000yr matches, alot of quality componets available, it better suited for the long action if you plan to shoot long range bullets. Balisticaly it beats out the 25-06 and has longer barrel life and will retain alot more energy at 1000yds than the 25-06. Recoil on this caliber in a mid weight gun is very managable so shooting a 60 round match won't beat you up to bad.

another great option would be a 280 Ackley improved, shooting a 162gr bullet at 2900fps it shoot very flat, its relitivly easy to load for, you can shoot factroy oaded 280 Remington ammo good barrel life and recoil isin't that bad,but more than the 6.5-284) and energy is more than enoguh for deer at 1000yds
