Gun help

Hi guys I had a question I tried free-floating my Remington 700 with a synthetic stock and it did not shoot worth a shit I don’t know what I should do was hoping someone could help me before I did this shot great but since I trimmed around the front of the stock And took the pressure point off the end of the barrel has not shot good sense any help his great

You can test your pressure point theory by putting varying thicknesses of card stock between the barrel and tip of the stock to see if the groups settle down. Properly bedding the action, as mentioned, is always a good thing.

I did the same thin with a Remington ADL 22-250 years ago. I sanded out the pressure points to 'float' the barrel, it wouldn't shoot. Put a folded match book in to replicate what I had, back to shooting great. Match book was still there when I sold the gun years later. May have looked terrible, but that gun shot great,
361/2 gr of 4895 and 50 gr Sierra = dead critters. I bought the gun when Remington first built the 700 in the early or mid 1960s.
