Our Club is probably going to be starting a Local Shoot shooting possibly some of the Ground Hog score targets and possible eggs @ 200 and 300 yards( that's the longest we can shoot.
I have been talking with a couple of other shooters on Rifle classes. I am fairly sure their could be 6-8 custom benchrest rifle shooters who would start shooting these type of shoots.
I know that there would probably be 3-4 shooters who have had Custom Barrels put on their rifles with bedding work and trigger work. Then there will be 3 possible 4 of us with the Savage F Class 6mm BR Factory Rifle. Could be 1-2 shooters with Custom Shop 40x Remingtons . And then some other Factory Rifles Rugers, Remingtons, Winchesters......
I was saying we should probably have 2 - Rifle shooting Class's.
Custom Class-
I was thinking the Custom Bench Rest rifles and rifles with Custom Barrels would be in One Class and Possibly the Remington Custom Shop Rifle included with them.
Factory Class
I was thinking the other rifles in a Factory Class in the Factory class we would allow the rifles to be Bedded , and the Triggers to be reworked. A thumb hole style aftermarket stock on a Factory action/barreled would be allowed (the thing I don't know about is if its fair to have the Savage F class 6MM BR in the Factory Class.
I am not a Bench Rest shooter so I don't know about these shooting class things.
We would be shooting off of a bench, allow front Bags, Bi pods, and probably a Rest. The rear of the stock would have to be supported by the shooters non-trigger hand- a Shooting Mitt would be allowed on that hand to aid as a rear rest.
My fear is the Custom Benchrest rifles would outclass the Factory rifles so badly that the Factory rifle shooters wouldn't stand a chance.
We are just starting to try and put this local match together and would like to get it as fair as possible to interest more shooters.
Please share your thoughts- I have read the Rifle Class breakdown on the Ground Hog Shoots and thought we may try to make this similar.
Thanks
