Groundhogs in PA?

I just got stationed out here in PA from WA and have no clue about this east coast hunting thing. I wanted to go gorundhog hunting but apparently the entire state is privately owned out here. Also I been tryin to find out where to get after some coyotes.
Anyone got any ideas?

U are in Groundhog heaven...get out there start asking for a safe place to shoot...I just got back from three days of that special place...conners field is just over 400yds to the center..shot at rays farm 340yds from my truck..three great days of shooting my new 6MMBR..used a new Nightforce scope 8 X 32 power..I really like my new gun/scope..I really like hunting in Pa. be safe GOOD LUCK...Mike in CT ...

Thanx Guys for all the great info. I guess I shoulda said where I was at.... I am currently living down on the DDC in New Cumberland but I work up at Fort Indiantown Gap. So I guess I am mideast to southeast region.
Unfortunatley I only have a match AR right now for varmints that I used out west for jackrabbits. I am trying to get ahold of a 204 Ruger so I can hunt here in Pa, but money is a little short for toys right now.

I was also wondering how late in the year can you hunt hogs before they hibernate?

Hey jb,
Thanx for all the help. I want to bust some hogs real bad. That range looks really nice. Currently I have been shooting at a public Game commission range that has crappy benches and is only 100 yds. Plus that club is free to active duty!!!!!!!!!!
I will probably join here shortly. Do you shoot there often?

Old -- i am there for groundhog matches all summer and then a few times after -- will surely be there at least once in the next month to check drops before deer season.

30$/year isnt too bad to join

Hey mb,
Thats some real nice looking fields. Looks like you can eassily stretch out to a click if you want to. Thats the kinda places I'm after. Hopefully come spring I can get out and check around a little. So far there is just too many people around here in New Cumberland.
Looks like that 243 does a number on pigs too, whats your farthest shot so far? Most of my long shooting has been limited to the 2 legged kind so I am anxious to try some smaller targets.

Your gonna have to show me this groundhog match thing, cuz I was looking at it in the archives, and it looks real fun; especially since the wife would love it too. She shoots almost as good as I do, so small targets like tractors and barns are in serious danger.

Matches start in March, and go thru the summer till sept.

My farthest shot with the 243 Ackley on a groundhog was 1056 yards.

wow thats real good. my longest shot was a lasered 962 and it was a tough one cuz of the funky winds shooting down streets. Everything swirls off the buildings and alley ways. as soon as I can unload a couple of rifles I got and a scope I am gonna pick up a good long range rifle. I still wish PA would let me zap hogs with my AR. Thats a gay law.

Yeah that is pretty cool. I was looking at the gun of the week with a can on it and it seemed pretty interesting.
