Groundhog Rules Question

Anybody running a match have any input?
Is a factory gun with a shortened barrel still considered factory for groundhog matches.

Different places have different rules. I used to help with running matches and I would say no it isn't legal because it's no longer Factory!

Some place will allow re-crowning, replacement triggers and bedding but that is the extend of mods that I'm aware of. Check with the match director where you plan to attend

At our club matches, we don't allow trigger or stock replacement. Shortening the barrel on the muzzle end and recrowning would still be factory class as long as the factory stamping is retained on barrel and chamber wasn't touched.

Thanks for the input, I like to know what other MD's think about rules.
We try to make sure everyone is happy.
I have been shooting matches for about 45 yrs. If you try to make everyone happy you will end up with no match. From the aspect of recruiting new shooters try not to make it an equipment race. Best advice I ever heard was the fewer the rules the less there is to fight about. Try , This is my mach and my rules. If you dont like them start a match with your rules and I will probably come to it.

Personally I would think it would still be factory if they allow recrowning. Who is to say how long the barrel was when it started life.

With that being said lots of barrel work can be done on a rifle and still keep the stampings in the correct spot just a little bit to the rear.
