Ground Squirrels Are Up!!!

Just took a little drive around the area and WHOO HOO!! The squirrels were out running around on the snow. We got a couple fresh inches last night, and it's colder than Hillary's heart, but the little devils were braving it for a peek at the sun.

I think tomorrow I'm gonna take the Bee and maybe the BR and make things gory. And no, I don't have any plans for ground squirrel stew. :p jd

There is no snow here and it was 53 degrees! Unheard of. But I took advantage today and took my daughter to a local dairy. We set up the Mcfadden tripod and the 25 cal Maruader PCP airgun. Range to big silo, 67 yards. Range to small silo, 47 yards, range to barn roof corners 52, and 31 respectively. We fired 15 shots. We connected 12 times on pigeons at 67, starlings at 47, sparrows at 51 and 31 (that one offhand).

I cannot praise the Benjamin Marauder enough (except pumping it up). It has a 4-14 Weaver GS with mildots on it, adjustable parralax. Not one bird even fluttered. All just dropped. About turns an english inside out. Cats love seeing us come and they sit at the base of the silo waiting for manna from on high to fall. Someday I will buy a big refill tank so I can shoot more than 16 shots without pumping.

I bet it would make a fine squirrel gun! ;)

Let us know how it went

Well, I gotta say that I wimped out of the Sunday squirrel shoot. Weather was what we call a 30-30 day. Thirty degrees at thirty miles an hour.

Puttered around the house, and finished reloading a bunch of cast bullets I had started. Another week at the salt mine, and hope I survive it. jd

Snert, it sounds like you guys had a heckofa shoot. I'm getting mo and mo jealous hearing about the great air rifle performance you get. It would take me three shots to pop a balloon at twenty yards with mine. I'm thinking an upgrade is in order. jd

Hooray for Oregon. Here in Wyoming where I live the gophers still have 4 feet of snow to burrow through to reach the surface.. Last year I was blastin em in Feb
