Grooves in my grooves?

Just scoped a new rifle I have been developing loads for to see if I had the dreaded CARBON RING yet, I have discovered that I have small marks running perpendicular to the grooves in the grooves for the first .25" - .38" of the grooves. They are in every groove and very consistent. I have never seen this before in any of my barrels.

What the .... are they from?

Thanks

Probably reamer marks which are common in certain barrels. What kind of barrel is it?

Are you sure it is in the grooves and not on the lands? If it is on the lands it is from the chamber reamer. Sometimes depth is hard to tell with a borescope. Matt

Some firearm manufacturers were intentionally adding extra "grooves" on the lands of their barrels in an attempt to make the bullets more easily identifiable to forensic Ballistics Examiners.

The ones I have seen were all pistols and they were all on the lands, not the grooves.

Pretty sure, but I get what you are saying.
