Grendel AR not feeding?

View attachment 1548813

On the OP’s bolt pic, you can see where the rim of the case could hang up just enough on the highlighted edge of the ejector enough to keep it down too long. In one of his pics of the cases you can see where it was jammed into the feed ramps with the base low, point up. A chamfer on the red mark will fix his feeding issue. You could even just chuck the ejector into a drill and spin against a file at a light angle then polish, adding a chamfer around the whole ejector. It’s a $2 part, nothing to loose really.
Thanks for this. I have had an issue once in a while with one of my grendels. I have seen some ejectors with the ramp cut but didn’t understand why

Interesting development today. First off, the chamfer thing didn’t work with the new or old mag. I then modified the mag so the rounds would clear the mag smoother and even reinstalled the factory buffer and spring….. no dice. So off to my smith I went.
He takes 6 rounds of factory hornady 123 SST’s out back fires them and they ran flawlessly. He tells me it’s my hand loads ( the nerve, right?!) long story short I then realize the only thing I changed was the seating depth, I made this current batch shorter. The factory loads were longer, the smith explained that shorter wouldn’t feed as well and it makes sense because until I shortened them they ran fine. I left it with him so he could polish the feed ramps a check head space. Also I’ll bring him some rounds that are the previous length. I’ll report back when I get it back.

Huh, I would have bet $ on that working, but your OAL issue makes sense too, as the tip of the round may have been overshooting the chamber and striking above on the barrel face…interesting

I pick the rifle up from the Smith yesterday. He put a small chamfer on both feed ramps and polished them. He said he ran 6 rounds of my reloads through it and it ran perfectly. I’m having an ankle surgery next week that will lay me up for several months so it will be a while before I can shoot it my self. Thanks to all who helped along the way! Cheers. E
