Green Mountain Barrels

Good value for their price point. Bores are not lapped so don't expect a real smooth bore inside, and therefore they seem to be more prone to pick up copper fouling, etc. without some additional work on them. Otherwise, they seem to shoot decent (at least the ones I have tested out).

I use them on my own guns and have sold about 100 over the last year or so in several different configurations from service rifle barrels to match rifle barrels and bolt gun barrels and so far have never received any negative feedback relating to barrel quality.
My main match rifle has shot quarter minute five shot groups and I continue to benifit from consistent accuracy from 200-600 yards.

Got one a while back because of the price. Didn't want to spend $300.00 + and the long wait to find out if my Wildcat round was going to work or not.
Barrel worked so good I ordered up another one. Both came in less than a week from ordering. 8)
From my experience, both clean real easy and are smooth as glass.
My first experience with Green Mountain was with Muzzleloaders. Seems like Green Mountain had been around for a long time. You just don't hear that much about them compared to the other barrel makers.
I can see more Green Mountain barrels for me in the future. ;D

I 100% agree with norcal. For a 100$ you can't beat them put together a 20 prac. shot a cleaned up just fine,I think the key is break them in. I had my smith borescope it and he was impressed for a 100$ barrel.

All I could find , for bolt actions, are unturned blanks. Did I miss something.

No Hal, you didn't miss a thing. Green Mountain is the largest barrel maker in the country and they mainly cater to the manufacturers market. They do a very high volume of OEM contracts for manufactures such as Remington, H&R, Bushmaster, Marlin... They have 44 cnc lathes running during 3 shifts and put out over a million barrels annually. Most of what they sell is either straight blanks that are turned on center to a specific diameter or contracted contours with a 100 piece min order.

I just buy their straight blanks and contour whatever I need for AR barrels or straight taper bolt gun barrels. They put out a nice product and I sell a pile of them. They shoot as good as anything on the market and cost a third as much due to the production quantity and streamlined manufacturing cost.

When people say they spend over $300 for a button barrel and as much as $370 for a button Broughton, I always have to laugh when my $100 Green Mountain shoots every bit as good. Nay sayers are welcome to come and try some of the quarter moa groups that I have gotten out of these barrels. Believe me, I had my doubts at first, but I don't any more! The proof is in the pudding.

Thinking hard about a .224 blank to try a .223 out for 300 yard f/tr. Just would hate to pay 300$ to have a 100$ barrel chambered and it turn out to be a dud though.

Why just 300. After selling some many of them I have decided to put them on all match rifles with no regrets. I have been a high master since 99 and have done all right over the years. Trust me, just do it.
