Green Mountain Barrels

How do you guys rate the Green Mountain 22 barrel for Ruger 77-22? Barlow

I have a number of them on 10/22's and they all shoot VERY well. I recommend them to all my Club members when asked for a after marked barrel recommendation.

VERY well equates to under 1" at 100 yards for me with quality ammo.

Great barrels for the money and that that rig...but don't expect to win more serious competitions, especially with that action.

Thanks for the replies. This rifle is not a tack driver, but is an adequate hunter. I thought someday I would put a new tube on it just to make it better. The Green Mountain won't hurt my pocketbook too bad, and I will probably get one in the future. Thanks, Barlow

that is too nice of a Rimfire rifle to put a budget GM barrel on it, IMHO.
a chrome moly from Shilen is about $275, made for the 77-22
worth saving up for.

Rather than wait for 3+ months and spend $300.00+ on a chambered barrel, I got my own custom specked reamer and a green Mountain 20 caliber CM blank. Thought about it a bit and ordered up another blank. Both came within one week of ordering. And each at about $100.00 shipped. Can't go wrong with the delivery time and cost.
Both are shooting bug holes after chambering and clean like silk. Can't go wrong with the price, quality or the fast delivery time.

Had a Ruger 77/22mag with a Green Mountain Stainless Fluted Bull on it. At 50 m it shot well (no trigger work either). Well under .5" with the right ammo. If you're on a budget and you still want to reach out to that 100-125yd mark with a .22/.22 Mag this will do it. I doubt you will be disappointed. If you want to be printing really tiny groups and you're an Elitest like some of us, , then you want to get the Shilen mentioned above.

More info to ponder. I am not on a budget, (at least not yet). I am in the process of building a 6 Dasher sporter on a Marlin XS7, with a Rock Creek barrel. I want to get this done before I venture ahead with the 22 project. Thanks for all the input, I'll let you guys know what and when I do it. Barlow
