Great American Outdoor Show

I was wondering how many will be attending the Great American Outdoor Show? I see much about Vegas shot shows but not the Outdoor Show.. I haven't been to a large gun show to date and was thinking about attending this, I wonder what your thoughts are and do you think it would be worth the time?

It used to be the second largest sport show in the country. It covered fishing;Boating; hunting; camping; outfitters; and guns. Now I believe it will be more gun oriented since the NRA is behind it. Buy your ticket online to avoid lines and try to avoid weekends if possible. It used to get really crowded, sometimes to the point you couldn't move. For the money you got to see a lot of stuff, including a lot of the people from the outdoor channel. Matt

Been there once a couple years ago....too crowded for me. The same reason that I'll never go to a superbowl!
Although.......If Tiffany is going to be there.... ;)

I'm going. Usually its packed but I'm going to try mid-day Wednesday while everyone is at work and see if that will cut down on the crowds. The other year I think the photo/autograph line for Tiffany was a couple hours wait. ;)

I'll just skip the autograph, bring my own camera and take pics

If anyone goes, check out booth #600 Priemer Accuracy. He should have some nice stuff on display.

Just because the NRA is hosting the show doesn't mean MORE GUNS, NRA took over as the former show promoter said NO BLACK GUNS so most of the people showing pulled out of the show shutting it down.
Needing a show promoter the NRA jumped in to promote the show now bigger and better than ever, the Sportsman Channel through the nranews.com will be there all week to cover the show.

I was told from a good source that it is supposed to be more gun related. They were trying to get more of the manufactures involved like years ago when Remington, Baretta, Winchester, Savage and companies showed up. It is supposed to be less exhibitors but more gun related like the shot show. At least that is what I was told. Matt

The only time I enjoyed the show was when I worked a booth there and could walk around during closed hours. Otherwise its a cluster%&^& . One can only stand so much Camo clothing and treestands.....................

Yeah I read the exhibitors list this morning and see more of the big manufacturers are back. Haven't seen that in over 15 years. The Reed guys that ran it was all about the money. They just kept driving up prices to people attending and the people setting up. They didn't care what they were selling just collecting money. I am glad that the people put there foot down and protested the gun thing. Reed also ran the Shot Show and they are looking into someone else running that. Imagine the Shot Shot without AR type guns. I hope all the shows pull out from REED. Matt

I plan on being there tomorrow morning when they open. I already went online and looked at where the vendors are that I want to see are. They have a app that you can see where you are and where the vendors are that you want to see, so that you are not walking around aimlessly. Looks to be a few more gun manufactures there this year compared to years past. I wish more of the optics and reloading companies would attend. I see Nightforce and Zeiss are there. I plan on leaving before noon before it gets slammed and you can barely move around.

Re: Great American Outdoor Show (Harrisburg, PA)

I think there is some misinformation on this thread. This show is sponsored by the NSSF (National Shooting Sports Foundation) not the NRA. The NRA is a paying participant in this show. The NRA has it's own national show that moves around the country.

Yes. it was canceled last year when "Reed Exhibitions" band black guns (after the new town tragedy). Reed an English Company was running the SHOT SHOW, Harrisburg Show, and the European SHOT SHOW. The NSSF fired REED after the 2013 Harrisburg Show was cancelled when, Remington, Smith and Wesson, Ruger, Sig, and the NRA pulled out.

I watched a NRA bit on it and very much seemed like they was running it now, sponsored by the outdoor channel..
