great 6br but not with 87 vmax

hi have developed a great load using 105 Molly amax also 75 vmax today but the 87 v max shot awful, all rounds loaded touching the lands all with varget i may have a long way to go ...have you any tips please

My 6BR shoots Berger 80s sub 0.200" and the 105s in the mid-twos to low 3s. The 87s are one bullet that has never shot well for me. I measured some bullets and found out that one reason was the 87s were not very consistent... either in base to ogive or diameter. Diameters varied,in my box) by up to 7 ten-thousandths. I won't be buying any more.

Suggest you just move on and try a different bullet.

I've also had on-going problems with the 87 gr. V-Max, and have given up on them. Other versions of the V-Max are producing groups close to what I can get with Sierra & Berger match, so the 87s' were a let-down.

niceone: Tried every combination imaginable, from .030" of jump, in increments of .010", all the way to a jam of .020". Different powders, charges & primers. Wasted a lot of good barrel life. Not worth the effort and $$$ when 85 gr. Sierra HPBT #1530, 87 gr. Hornady HPBT #2442, and various Bergers perform to the extreme. Also tried them in 6mm22-250 and 243 Win. both with Shilen barrels. Hornady better take them back to the drawing board, and start over.:,

None of my 6br's like the 87gr V-max either, just couldn't get them to shoot where as about any other bullet that I've used was a winner..
