Grayboe Customer Service

Hi guys,

I wanted to commend Grayboe and their customer service.

I purchased a Renegade stock for a build sometime early this year. The stock and the gun really didn’t get along so I moved it from gun to gun finding the right fit for me and the rifle.

The third and final gun was a 260 5r Remington and it shot lights out in the Renegade.

Unfortunately for some reason the stock broke right at the pistol grip after about 25 shots in the 260.

I’m not sure why, but she busted and it happened during a shot. It was an odd feeling, thankfully nothing happened to me, the gun or the glass, but the stock was toast.

I sent Grayboe Sales an email and after a couple replies a new stock is being shipped to me under warranty.

Great and friendly service.

Thank you Grayboe for being stand up about this and replacing my stock!

I recall reading about the M40A1 stocks when they were upgraded and sold as surplus. The USMC person that was involved with the sale said that out of the hundreds of stocks they had bought over the years, only 2 had ever broken and one of the 2 he knew had been thrown from a helicopter. McMilan was glad to send new stocks and wanted to see where the old ones had failed.

I have an A2 that has a hairline crack where yours broke. I just keep on shooting it, it's my .308 PRS rifle. If it ever breaks I'll get in touch with them. I guess you'll never know an answer to something like that until it happens and you ask.

You should take close up pictures of the crack surfaces. People who know about crack formation and propogation can determine how much of an issue this is for other stocks.

I'm not really well trained in that but I bet the crack started at the tang action screw hole. It might have been due to over tightening but I think the bend with a screw hole stress riser in the middle is a big red flag.

Boy your not kidding it broke! My guess would be an air pocket, but purely speculation on my part. Good on them for replacing It! :D:D
