Grabbed my first win! ~600yd Fclass

This past Sunday was the first match of the year at Cadillac Sportsman Club in Michigan and the 3rd match I've ever shot. I ended up scoring a 198-8X, 196-6X, 197-11X for a 591-25X which crushed my previous best. I won F-open and had top overall Fclass score. I am still pumped. Big thanks to Bill Litz who was squadded with my friend and continuously gave us excellent advice throughout the match. Also, it was my first time using the Berger hybrid which turned out to be awesome. I didn't have time to do much development which consisted of using my same amax load and seating further out to 2.985 COAL. I got to shoot the new load, which did fairly well, the weekend before in the snow but match day was 85 degrees so I was a bit worried. Thanks Michigan weather! The hybrid BC definitely was the reason why several of my marginal 9/10 ring shots hung in for the 10 ring despite the shifting winds and heavy mirage. Now to find more hybrids as I only had one box that I bought off a forum member back in January.

Rifle
Savage 110
Criterion 28 inch bull in 260AI
PDC custom chassis with 3 inch forearm
RB-sav 2 trigger
Sightron SIII

Load
Minimally prepped lapua 260 brass-5X firings
-Full length sized
-primer pocket unifored
unsorted Berger 140 Hybrids
42gr H4350
2.985 COAL
2830 ish FPS (this was the velocity using Amax bullets)

Congrats Verv!! Nothing better to stoke a guy up for the next match!!

I was already in the area but would normally be driving from Lansing about 2 hours away. I think there were 46 shooters at the match.

Good shooting! You are another casualty of F-Disorder now. With scores like that it won't be long before you have your second win. Enjoy them all!!

46 Shooters... Thats great, glad to see the participation!! And again, great shooting...

Rod in Fargo, formally in Grand Rapids...

Good shooting. I just punched the calculator and 591 is 98.5% , that is high master territory. Congratulations !!

There were 18 F-TR shooters and 7 F-O. The conditions at Cadillac were mundane Sunday... except for the heat. Mirage was minimum. While the winds were switchy which is normal for Cadillac I don't think they peaked at the 10mph that was forecast. High F-TR score was a 591-23X.

Nice shooting by the way!

Thanks Al! But don't point out my novice abilities too bad. I thought the winds were tricky and mirage was terrible. I am a sheltered shooter! I suppose it didn't help that my barrel heat kept melting my Velcro adhesive half way through each string which allowed it to slide off. Definitely going to put some string on there to tie it down for the June 9th match.
