Gotta shotgun accessory question

So I'm.new here and I'm about 98% sure im in the wrong section with this question, but today I ran across something I have never seen before let alone used. I'm curious if anyone in here has used one and of so what the hell is the point of em? Its a 12GA to 9MM RIFLED Shotgun Adapter - Chamber Reducer. Why would a fella wanna shoot a 9 mil or 40, 45, etc out of this shotgun shell sized adapter that goes in the shotgun? Is there some neat shit that I completely missed or what? Thanks for any help lining me out on this lol

I've seen 45 Colt shot out of a 410.
Not that accurate out of a smooth bore, but didn't blow up.

Craziest thing i think i've seen is this plastic piece that screws on in place of a broadhead for archery. You put a 357 Magnum round in it. Supposedly when it hits a deer (IF you can hit a deer with the dang thing) the 357 round goes off.
Of course since there's no metal "barrel" in it, i'm not sure what for velocity you'd get from the bullet.

A .451 slug in a .410 bore I sure hope not . that guy needs a straight jacket .

Wow.....like mentioned above, I have sub-gauge tubes for competitive skeet. They are full length and in 20, 20, and 410 and are fitted to the specific 12 ga barrel on my K-80. The tubes are aluminum with steel chambers and screw chokes.

I have also had and seen shorty tubes that are much less expensive but really work best for 12 to 20 ga. Or at least, they seem to work if going no more than a single gauge (e.g. not from 12 gauge barrel to 410...yes, it will go off but the performance sucks IMO).

I don't care what these things are that the OP mentioned, I would NEVER shoot metallic with such significantly higher pressures out of a shotgun.

Edit - just googled it and see that its a short chamber insert which means that the bullet is traveling the length of the barrel...well, hopefully in mid-air with clearance from the barrel sides. I suppose being very still is a requirement to shooting this thing.

I think you have to really hate your shotgun to even try using this device.

Cheers

Back when Hector was a pup, I remember my Uncle shooting a 44-40 round out of a single barrel 410 shotgun. I can’t remember if he hit anything with it but there was no disastrous outcome. I believe one of them hunted deer with it that season because they couldn’t find slugs for it. I wouldn’t try it today but back then a lot of things were done that wasn’t kosher. Ringing paper shot shells was another one.
