not a fiber. Its been cleaned multiple times, shot compressed air through it as well. the same thing shows up in the same spot.
Got the Teslong bore scope. Is this rifle chamber cooked?

Man, I feel like a pig trying to read a wristwatch.
This brought some great humor to an otherwise crappy situation
got a long overdue update. Rifle has been with beretta since end of september. Today they let me know its set to be destroyed and they will be issuing a replacement.
Thanks for the update. I'm glad to hear that they are going to take care of it. I hope the replacement is the rifle you hoped for the first time around.
I am hopeful but soured on the tikka brand after this. 4 months in the queue, my rifle was set to be destroyed at the beginning of this month, and no notice for almost 30 days now, and it sounds like I would have not gotten one at all had I not sat through their 2 hour hold time..Likely going to become a Bergara customer instead after this exchange. Disappointing as I just sank another $1500+ into a t1x , chassis, and scope to build a 22 trainer right before this happened

-AlThat was good catch on your part!I shined light on it from both sides, was able to see the fracture/cracking from another angle.
Also took it to a local gunsmith who confirmed that it needs to be sent back to tikka after inspecting the chamber.
I wish I knew, to be honest with you. I imagine with more practice on this camera I could identify unknown artifacts better.
Any particulars you recommend? Ive seen them respond on Snipershide to posts generally well (though not in length), and the $500 rebarrel seems appealing as an option too.
If it were me then I would stay with the Tikka. The fault in the barrel is an isolated incident, they may have been slow but at least they are taking care of the issue and you already have the T1X to use as a trainer. Going with a different brand is a gamble as to whether it will be better than the Tikka. It isn't that Tikka's can't have issues but they seem to have a lot fewer than most other brands.
My experience with the Bergara is limited but I do have a couple of friends who dove into them and none of theirs shoot near as well as Tikka's, nor to me do they handle as well. The biggest draw to the Bergara seems to be that they have a 700 footprint opening up the possibility of a larger variety of stock models. I surely have not seen accuracy with the Bergara anywhere near the out of the box accuracy of a Tikka.

I talked a buddy of mine into buying the Bergara HMR Premiere Ridgeback a few months ago, because he was sold on bergara (wants a b14 22 for NRL or whatever its called).
The talked him into it part was basically..I found one randomly one day for sale at SMGA, for something insane like $600 off the regular price. So the deal was too good to pass up on.
I'd say thats a fairly accurate rifle, but he's only shot it maybe 3 times total since. Ill have to do a range trip with him and that rifle soon to compare.
I think the premiere action is definitely smooth. Not sure if its equal to the tikka smoothness, but its a moot point with no rifle to compare to.
I have also been eyeballing the badrock south fork, in the MDT chassis. I just dont know if thats overkill for my shooting abilities at this time..but the price is definitely competitive.

no chance in hell. I already have a ruger 350 legend rifle sitting here that needs to go back to them for service, less than 60 days old, with multiple friends who bought the same rifle and have issues with theirs too. Their QC for 2021 has been horrid.
