Texas Solo

B.S. High Master
After a lot of debate and research, I finally decided to but the Savage 12FTR in 308. I was slightly concerned about the 1/12 twist, but read a ton of stuff saying it was fine. Also slightly concerned about barrel harmonics at 30". But the proof is in the pudding.

I worked up loads using Varget, imr4064 and RE15. I used 155 & 168 Hornady bullets. All CBTO were set at -.005.

Varget was just average, nothing exciting with either bullet.

4064 did well with both bullets, .750".

RE15 stole the show. 155's got me .450"
168's got me down to .330" the 168 has .050 longer bearing surface, so maybe the 1/12 twist likes it better.

The best results with all bullet,/powder combinations were at 2800fps.

Next step is to load more RE15 & 168's while experimenting with seating depths.

See if you can find and buy the same lot of powder.

I have the same rifle, I'm shooting Varget with 175 SMK's and working on a load for the Berger 185 Juggernaut. Just shot a 600 yard match at Bayou Rifles with the rifle for the first time this past weekend. Any questions, just ask.
