Goodbye to reasoned jurisprudence

"There’s no question President Obama’s nominees have absolutely been part of his effort to transform the country and move it dramatically to the left…"

The above applies to the Appeals Courts, who are the first step in deciding how a law "should be" implemented/applied. And w/ a liberal bias, any appeal as regards firearms law is likely to be rejected e.g., the law will be upheld.

We (the people) are to blame for our current situation. Our elected repersentives behavior is nothing new, they have been promising one thing and delivering another for decades, then they are reelected time and time again. You and I may not have been fooled but enough of our fellow citizens were.

Tirm limits sounds good but they will not fix a dishonest government. An informed electorate that values honor and honesty is the only solution.

At least thats my opinion.

At least term limits wouldn't let jerks stay in and accumulate more power through cronyism and corruption for 40 years like some in there now. It seems the longer they stay in there the worse they get for some. It's my opinion that our founding fathers never intended for "professional" politicians, but wanted "the people" to be "served" by "the people". If I remember right G. Washington turned down a third term himself.
Also those "Ultra Wealthy for Life" pensions, benefits, and ability to "vote" themselves raises needs to go.
Get in office, SERVE, and go home and live under what you did office was the intent IMHO.

My best friend (since childhood) ran for and won a state Representative position. He was always an hard working, honest and ethical man. One term in and things changed. Juggling for power was the name of the game and he became a player. Into his second term I became disgusted to see what my dear friend had become.

I now am a strong supporter of term limits.

I love the political season!! It reminds me of all the things I will be soon receiving and all my troubles will soon be forgotten.

Congress just turns a blind eye to the over reach of this criminal act of the president making law which is against our constitution.

Google Trey Gowdy..... Sc. rep..... watch the youtube vidieos......he`s done........factually.... they make the laws.,....... Obama does not adhere to them.......

We have State Legislature term limits in California, six years for Assembly, eight years for Senate. It made almost no difference except that they are even less competent (hard to believe) than they were previously. :(

Yes, but admit Cali has been in a league of their own for 4 decades.

Pete Wilson was our governor from '91-'99 and wasn't bad. Arnold was a disappointment but wasn't crazy. California has the same problem several big states (New York, Illinois, Pennsylvania, etc.) have. We have a conservative, rural population dominated by corrupt leftists in huge urban centers. Characterizing an entire population because of that is unwarranted and ignorant. Imagine if Wyoming had Nevada's situation. Outside Clark County, Nevada is a very conservative/libertarian state. Sadly, they are dominated by corrupt scum in Las Vegas.

I was talking about political climate, not people as a whole.

We need to watch out for throwing the baby out with the wash. We have a few good politicians up there but they are few and far between and they get discriminated against by the bad ones. Each state has some one that needs to go home. We in Texas desperately need to send John Cornyn packing. He has become the problem since he is second in command in the Senate. Mitch McConnell and John McCain, his itchy brother Lindsay Graham and many others.

Some of the deviants will always be there. Witness the democrats with Reid, Pelosi, Boxer, hell all of them and many republicans as well.

If the justices voting for Obama care had been impeached it would not take long for the rest of them to start actually adjucating constitutionally instead of making law out of whole cloth.

Perhaps the convention of states is not a bad idea after all. One thing is for sure they will have to be made to govern constitutionally because the power and financial incentives are far to enticing apparently to do it on their own. They must be made to honor the oath they all took. As it is now there is no down side to it. Some heads need to roll. It is up to us to ensure that it is the correct ones.

Justices being impeached ? Really ? The party that holds the office of President controls the justice . Save the party by saving the corrupt members. You witnessed a couple of weeks ago with the FBI saving Hillary.

This form of justice operates much the same way in the states.

If congress had done their job impeachment would have been an option. Sadly it is not when congress agrees with the judicial and executive usurpation of law.

You might want to revisit the constitution about the powers of the presidency. He can only nominate justices. They are appointed with advise and consent of the Senate. The presidency is powerful but he is not a king. This president has grabbed powers for himself that were never intended in the constitution. He did so with no admonishment from congress though they had every right to do so.

Unless we can get back to the way this government was intended to work it will only get worse no matter whom is elected president. This government was set up with checks and balances that are no longer recognized.

Joe

We're pushing the "no political posts" envelope here. But just thinking out loud, I'd be interested to know the general political makeup of this forum's membership. I'm a recovering Republican who now more leans in the Libertarian camp. Guess I am a conservative Libertarian.
