Good Results With A " Less Expensive " ( Say, $20-22/Box ) 6.5 CM Round For Range Shooting Out To 1K Yards?

I have had good results with Hornady American Whitetail, 129gr interlock. But all of that shooting was at 100-200 yds. It would group half inch at 100 consistently. I never tried them any further. I checked prices on ammoseek.com and Midsouth has them for $20.99 a box + shipping right now. It would be worth trying a box at that price. However, I am not sure that the exposed lead tip would be conducive to accuracy at the ranges you mentioned.

Here are two different branded versions of it, and Academy sells it as Hornady Black also.

I've seen numerous shooters shoot these 2 Hornaday offerings out to 1000 yards. Their factory rifles, shot them very well and accurate. Especially the Match 140. I've shot mostly 600 yards and an occasional 1000 yards with a fellow f class shooter that uses it at 600 and 1000 yards. He does very well for himself with it in his PRS rifle.

Seems like a typo, the per piece price for a box of 50 is far less than their per piece price for a purchase of 250.

I guess it depends on what you are trying to hit at 1000 yards. 1moa or a 28x28 inch steel plate? I'm not sure you can find 22 bucks per 100ct box for bullets good out to even 300 yards. If you want to go-to 1000 yards, I'd expect you are going to have to pay 0.28 to 0.35 per bullet at the very least.

Don't get me wrong. I LOVE cheap bullets. I have a boxes on boxes of them. But sometimes they are at a point of diminished returns. I'll find myself using more powder, primers, and barrel life trying to make a budget bullet work. All the while, if I used a semi premium bullet, I would have gotten the results faster and cheaper.

I've had good luck with the Hornady ELD-M, that's where I'd start if I were in your shoes.

I’ve been doing a little searching on this deal and it seems like this place may have four different companies geared for ammo-seek. The info I’m reading says it picks up these very low priced ammo first, but then they charge more than substantial shipping.

They might work single loaded with care to keep the lead tip undamaged. My 20" CTR doesn't shoot 140's as good as 129-130.

Thank you sir. I`m confident that I will. Have to admit that it took a bit to clear my head regarding the difference in price/round .223 vs. 6.5 CM !

I can tell you that the Hornady Black 105 grain and the Hornady (I think precision hunter) in 103 grain ammo for the 6MM ARC is so good in my rifle that unless you're going to regularly, (weekly a few boxes) shoot the rifle from an economical perspective just buy factory.

Cost for buying new brass and other supplies doesn't save you much and the factory is so good in terms of how well it shoots in my rifle. I bought 500 rounds of the 105 Black in the same lot number and I'm saving the brass for reloading but I don't expect that the reloads will shoot much better than factory.
