Well the wind finally laid down and the temp warmed up last week. Got out with our new 20BR's for calling coyotes. Wed 6, Thurs 5. Fr1 5, and Sat 10. Only one with mange. Forcast for this week is high winds again so will give a chance to catch-up with the skinning.

Glad the wind dies for you. I was out in 16-35mph winds sat/sunday & still managed to have 7 show up and 4 shot. Everyone was back doored since the winds were so solid the sounds were not making it up wind! Everyone one of them held at 200-350 yards since they could scent us pretty easy with the winds help. Not one came in from the usual areas of sounds.

I live in Cheyenne & call in CO/NE/WY.

I have been thinking about coyote hunting in Ohio since the GH are hard to find. I don't want to hunt at night. An hour or 2 before sunset is what I would like to try. Is it a waste of time hunting just before dusk? Do the Coyotes hunt more in daylight hours in the spring when they have to feed pups?

Webster--- It is my experiance that the middle of the day is just as good. They are sleeping and don't hear your vehicle or you slip in. Then the call wakes them out of a deep sleep and before they know it they are coming. then as long as they are now up they may as well come check it out. If you go in the evening they are up and about (read that wary of all sounds) and you have a hard time closing in without them knowing it. Now thats not to say it can't work. The only time its not possible is when you are not there. If I had limited ground to hunt my time would be 10:00am-02:00 pm

Same here....very limited gh in upper central Ohio.
