Golden Eagle parallax question “Solved”

A question for those who have a Vortex Golden Eagle scope.

Today at the range I noticed something I hadn’t before. When I turn the parallax knob between the infinity and first hash mark it moves easily back and forth. It seems to do what it is supposed to do. When I go below that mark it clicks like the elevation knob until it hits the 20 mark. I’ve never noticed this until today.
Is this normal or should I contact Vortex and get it in for repair?

I have 2, neither one has the clicks you describe. Any chance your rings are over tightened? Have you removed from the rings to see if it still occurs alone?
I did as you suggested and lo and behold it works now as I remember. Thank you!

I double checked EGW and saw they suggest 15# for caps. I adjusted the scope on Sunday when I was at the range and retorqued the rings. For some reason 25# popped into my brain and that’s what I torqued to. Corrected and functioning now.

I use the Burris XTR Signature Rings and use 20 in. lbs. They've been solid at holding the scope in place and haven't had to touch them in years.

It may have more to do with the position of your rings combined with the torque applied. Vortex recommends 15-18 inch #’s

That’s just how Vortex scopes are. I think their scope tubes are made out of paper. LOL! Very weak! Any misalignment or over torquing messes them up and often even damages the internal parts so bad they need to be sent in for repair. Never have I seen any other manufacturer, even from the cheapest optics, have so many issues with scope tubes warping and damaging functions like I have with Vortex. They can work ok if you are very careful with the mounting procedure, use a torque wrench, and lap rings, but sometimes a person just wants to slap a scope on real quick by hand tightening the rings to test it out. Can’t do that with Vortex or you risk damage. They gotta be the thinnest aluminum scope tube bodies on the market. Total garbage in my opinion

Interesting. I’ve actually been thinking of moving back to a Nightforce. Just have find the right price. LOL

I had the parallax stop working after remounting a Gen1 Razor, caps about 24 inch pounds. Called vortex and the rep said to use 15-18.
It worked fine after that.
I was a little surprised that so little difference in torque made it stop working with a 35MM tube.
