I had several rifles stolen including a Tanner Free rifle in 7.5x55 Serial #6157. Another rifle was a 6.5x55 on a Savage SS action . I harvested the barrel from an old match rifle and used for coyotes. Mc Gowen barrels is selling Savage prefit closeouts for $200.00 in 6.5 x 47. I am having one recontoured and at 24 " will put that on a Savage action. But it will be rechambered to a 6.5x55 since I have all the fixings ie brass and experience. Food for thought.
